Steady Days

How did they sleep?
Last bowel movement?
Out, slowly
They will take their cue from you.
Ask about the bathroom.
Quietly, from the front, at eye level. Don’t announce it — just ask.

What did you actually say? It will replace my wording on that card.
Call 911
- Someone has been hurt.
- You cannot keep them or yourself safe.
- They are unresponsive, or breathing strangely.
- Their face has drooped on one side, an arm has gone weak, or their speech has changed suddenly. Note the time and say “stroke” on the call.
If this is frightening you
Being hit, grabbed or threatened by someone you are caring for is common and almost never reported. It is a clinical fact about the illness, not a failing of yours, and saying it out loud changes what gets prescribed.
- Tell their doctor plainly — how often, and what happened.
- Ask about respite. You are allowed to need it.
- Alzheimer’s Association, day or night: 800-272-3900
Who to call
Call the doctor today
- This came on suddenly and isn’t like them.
- Fever, or pain when passing urine.
- No bowel movement in three days.
- A fall, or a new medicine this week.
- They have stopped drinking, or are newly unsteady on their feet.
- New trouble swallowing, or coughing on food and drink.
Sudden agitation that doesn’t fit their baseline is more often an infection, pain, or constipation than a change in the dementia. It is worth ruling out before anything is prescribed.

Who they are
What has changed since then
Once episodes are logged this page fills in on its own: when they happen and whether that is changing, what was going on at the time, what settled them and what did not, and anything worth raising at the appointment.

What the carer has learned
Written down by the carer between episodes. Not measured by the app, and not ranked by it — the section above is what the record supports.
Worth asking about
Recorded at home by a family carer using a self-help app, not by a clinician. These are the episodes the carer had a free hand to log, so read the counts as a floor rather than a complete record. Not a medical device and not a diagnosis.
The record
What this keeps
This is health information about someone who may not be able to read this page themselves. It is worth knowing exactly where it goes.
What it records
- What you call them, their pronoun, their music, and what to put in their hands.
- How they slept and when they last had a bowel movement, on the days you answer.
- Each episode: when it started, how long it lasted, what you tried, and what settled it.
- Anything you save in your own words, and the medicines you enter.
- Occasions you marked as having frightened you.
Where it goes
Nowhere. It is stored by this browser, on this device, and this version contains no code that could send it anywhere — no account, no server, no analytics, no advertising, and no sharing. Nobody else can read it, including whoever made this app. The page asks the internet for nothing at all, not even a typeface, so opening it tells no one that you did.
Getting rid of it
Set up → Start fresh erases the record on this device at once, and there is no copy elsewhere to ask about. Clearing this site’s data in your browser does the same. Because there is only one copy, it is also the only copy — use Back up in Set up if losing it would matter.
What it is not
Not a medical device. It does not diagnose or treat anything, and it is not a substitute for their doctor. The suggestions are ordinary non-medical care advice, and the report is a record of what you chose to write down — a floor, not a complete account.
